МИГ Лясковец–Стражица (Local Action Group) is a Bulgarian non-profit association working to preserve, promote, and digitize regional cultural heritage. Their mission is to make Bulgaria’s intangible heritage - traditional bread making, embroidery, and folk songs - accessible to a broader audience.
Through EU-funded programs, МИГ supports innovative projects that combine cultural preservation with modern technology, ensuring that local traditions reach new generations and international visitors.

The client’s initial goal was to digitize and showcase cultural heritage across 10 municipalities in Bulgaria through a modern, bilingual platform. They needed:
01A mobile application to serve as a cultural guide with offline-friendly assets, bilingual content, and multimedia support.
02A WordPress-based website integrated with Google Maps and custom catalogs, allowing visitors to browse places, events, songs, recipes, and 360° tours.
03Seamless integration between the mobile app and the website, so new content added on the site would automatically reflect in the app.

Key challenges included:
01Aligning multiple stakeholders (МИГ associations, municipalities, cultural institutions).
02Designing and implementing a scalable content structure (themes → municipalities → objects).
03Supporting both Bulgarian and English, with media-rich assets like 360° virtual tours, YouTube videos, and interactive maps.
What we delivered.
Generic Soft was selected to deliver both the mobile and web solutions because of its experience in custom software development and EU-funded cultural projects.
A native Android mobile app, built in Java with AndroidX and Material Components.
A WordPress custom theme, designed in Figma and implemented with custom blocks for catalogs, maps, and objects.
Interactive Google Maps integration, enabling route navigation from a user’s location to cultural sites.
360° image support embedded in both mobile and web.
A content synchronization mechanism: new objects added in WordPress are automatically exposed via an API for the mobile app.
A bilingual interface (BG/EN) with localized JSON data in the mobile app and WPML support for the site.
Google Cloud and API setup for Maps, including account creation, billing configuration, and API key management.
Storytelling meets interactivity.
The result is a bilingual, multimedia-rich digital platform that combines storytelling with interactivity. Visitors can now explore Bulgaria’s living heritage - from bakeries and songs to embroidery workshops - through both a mobile app and a website.
